Travel eSIM FAQ

An eSIM is a digital SIM. You download a plan instead of inserting a plastic card, and your phone number at home can stay on the other line.

Most travel eSIMs are data-only. Apps such as WhatsApp use that data. A plan that includes a normal phone number says so in the Calls icon.

Install on Wi-Fi before you fly. Turn off data roaming on your home line if you want to avoid your carrier’s daily fee, and turn roaming on for the travel eSIM once you land.
