International data & phone plans

An international data plan can mean your carrier’s add-on, or a prepaid eSIM. The carrier add-on often starts charging the day you use the home line abroad. An eSIM is paid up front for a set amount of data.

Compare the two with your dates filled in. The eSIM row shows whether the allowance lasts the trip. The carrier page is linked from each roaming guide, and we only quote a carrier fee when we’ve read it on that page.
